USA, VA: Richmond City Council debates delay construction of Stone Brewing’s new facility
Brewery news

Stone Brewing Co. has hit some bumps in the road as Richmond City Council fights over how much oversight it should have on money made from the project, ABC News reported on February 3.

Construction on the 200,000 square foot facility would lease for the new brewery is expected to begin this week, according to the Richmond Times Dispatch.

Back in December, the council unanimously voted to provide $23 million in funding to begin construction on the site.

The RTD reports that city council is now battling over a proposed amendment that would give the council more control over any revenue generated by the project.

The council was expected to vote on the amendment last night, but the vote was delayed until February 9.
