Brazil: Beer taxes to increase by around 10% this month
Brazil’s taxes on beverages – soda, beer, energy drinks, and sports drinks – will increase by an average 10% this month, Portugal Digital reported on May 2.
According to the Federal Revenue Service, it is now up to the producers to decide whether the increase in taxes will be reflected in consumers’ prices.
The new decree also established the definition of specialty beer in Brazil. The brewers of such type of products will pay a lower tax, the Brazilian authorities said.
