USA, NJ: Cypress Brewing Co. opened its doors in Edison on July 1
Brewery news

On July 1, what started as a hobby for Bill Lutz, Jason Kijowski and Charles Backmann became a reality when Cypress Brewing Co. opened its doors to the public, MyCentralJersey reported on the same day.

Owners Bill Lutz, Jason Kijowski and Charles Backmann’s journey, however, began years ago when they gave samples of their kitchen brew to Charles Backmann Sr. and Ken Kijowski. The two fathers thought their son’s beer turned out so well that it could render a profitable business. Thus, Bill Jason and Charles Backmann conceived the idea of Cypress Brewing Co., and the real work began for the three men.

Lutz, Kijowski and Backmann knew they could not continue from their residential location. Cypress Brewing moved out of Kijowski’s kitchen into a larger facility on 30 Nixon Lane, Edison. By doing so, the owners brought a new industry to the township. In fact, Cypress Brewing stands as Edison’s first brewery, and as a result, the Edison Chamber of Commerce recently awarded owner, Charles Backmann, Entrepreneur of the Year for bringing a new idea to the local marketplace.

With a location secured and recipes underway, the owners still needed to build Cypress Brewing Co. and that’s when it truly became a family affair.

Ultimately, the three partners and their network of family and friends have succeeded in building a unique craft brewery. On July 1, Cypress Brewing officially opened to the public.
