USA, LA: Cajun Brewing taps its first kegs of Belgian witbier
Cajun Brewing tapped its first kegs on December 3 for the grand opening of Lafayette's first microbrewery, KATC Lafayette News reported.
Cajun Wit is the name of the brewers' first signature brew to hit the market.
"It's a Belgian witbier," said Cajun Brewing general manager Chad Lege. "We do have two other beers that are lined up to come soon after. It's a red ale which is yet to be named, and a brown ale which is also yet to be named."
For the first year, the microbrewery's beers will only be found in bars, restaurants and by the keg in some local stores.
"Today is our official launch onto the market," said Lege. "We've been preparing for this since September. We've been brewing beer, trying to get some stock up."
By the second year, the plan is to start bottling beers on site.
"We're super excited to have this be our first day on the market, so we're going to be out on the town with free shirts and glasses so if you guys sees us, stop us and get some free swag," said Lege.
Right now customers can find Cajun Brewing products at bars like The Greenroom in downtown Lafayette, and the Taproom in River Ranch.
