USA, CA: Argonaut Brewing Co. now to be called Claimstake Brewing

Less than a week after ditching its former title, a brewery in Rancho Cordova, California, has chosen a new name.

The business once known as Argonaut Brewing Co. will now be called Claimstake Brewing. The transition to the new name, which will undergo a final legal review, is expected to begin immediately, Sacramento Business Journal reported on January 4.

Last week, the Rancho Cordova brewery announced it would change its name due to a trademark dispute. The owners didn't elaborate, but documents available online suggest Modesto's E. & J. Gallo Winery opposed the Argonaut name.

The brewery is expected to open at 11366 Monier Park Place early this year. Claimstake was one of three potential new names that the owners posted on Facebook last week, requesting public feedback. In a Facebook post announcing the new name, the owners said they based the final decision on a "functional, legal and personal perspective."
