USA, AL: Alabama state commission recommends lawmakers ease sales restrictions on breweries, distilleries and wineries
Brewery news

A state commission tasked with examining Alabama's liquor laws is recommending lawmakers ease sales restrictions on breweries, distilleries and wineries, WTVA reported on January 13.

The Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Study Commission voted on January 12 to present lawmakers with recommendations that include allowing certain licensed brewers to sell up to 288 ounces of beer directly to consumers in bottles, cans or growlers.

The recommendations also call for allowing Alabama wineries to sell their goods at a location approved by the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board and allowing Alabama distilleries to sell up to one 750 milliliter bottle per person, per year for off-premise consumption.

Representatives of Alabama breweries say they're in favor of the recommendations.

Commission Chairman, Sen. Paul Sanford of Huntsville, tells The Montgomery Advertiser that he will work with the Alabama Law Institute to draft proposed legislation.
