USA, NC: Blue Blaze Brewing Co. targets late spring or early summer opening in Charlotte
Charlotte's west side is a step closer to toasting the opening of its first brewery, Charlotte Business Journal reported on January 21.
Blue Blaze Brewing Co. has received a building permit for its space at 528 S. Turner Ave. Plans include installing large windows to provide a view into the 15-barrel brewhouse and adding wooden touches such as an awning over the main entrance. The interior will feature a mezzanine, bar and tables to provide seating for around 125 people. And custom-made bikes will be used to deliver kegs via the nearby Stewart Creek Greenway.
CBJ's Jennifer Thomas reported on Blue Blaze and its founders, Sven Giersmann and Craig Nunn, last summer, highlighting the longtime friends' first foray into home-brewing, the origins of their new venture's name, early plans for beer offerings and more. Read up on the backstory here.
Giersmann and Nunn hope to create a community gathering spot in an area of the city that lacks the pull of the dining, drinking and entertainment options one might find in more established neighborhoods such as South End, NoDa or Plaza Midwood.
The brewery is now targeting a late spring or early summer opening.
