USA, VA: Jack’s Run Brewing Co owners close to purchasing facility in Purcellville
After more than 10 years brewing beer at home and winning multiple competitions, Al Bosco and Eric Mathewson have always had a dream to open their own brewery, Loudoun Times-Mirror reported on January 28.
When they recently found the perfect space at 108 N. 21st St. in Purcellville, they were ready to turn their dream into a reality.
Bosco and Mathewson have hired Dave Trombley to serve as general manager of the operation. They are buying the building and will close on it Feb. 8.
“We are working with an architect and designers to build out the space,” Trombley said. “We hope to open in May.”
The building, which was formerly Shamrock Music Shoppe, is 3,800 square feet, and the brewery will utilize two floors. The first floor will showcase their brewing equipment and will have a bar area with seating. The second floor will feature a space that can be sectioned off for group events, and will also have a large outdoor patio in the back.
They plan to use local catering options and will bring in food from outside vendors, including Monk’s BBQ and Jose’s White Palace across the street, Trombley said.
The name for the brewery, “Jack’s Run” comes from a creek located on the western side of Purcellville which first appeared on a colonial map in 1749. It is likely associated with John Jack Coleville, who was granted 1,116 acres of land in 1740, Trombley explained.
“We plan to link the brewery to Purcellville’s past and will have pictures of historic Purcellville in the brewery,” Trombley said.
There will be six consistent beers on tap, with others fluctuating depending on the season. They will include an IPA, wheat, stout, red ale, cream ale and saison. Patrons can enjoy beer by the pint or flights, as well as by filling growlers to go.
“We plan to have live music and possibly even country line dancing instruction once or twice a week,” Trombley said.
“We hope this ends up feeling like Purcellville’s version of the bar Cheers,” he added.
