Norway: Norwegian breweries have recently posted a major increase in the sale of beer this summer. They believe that a price war, and hoarding in connection with a strike this spring are the main reasons for the increase, Norway Post announced on July 22. Figures from the Breweries' Association show that during the first half of the year Norwegians bought 117 million litres of beer. This is an increase by 11 %, compared with the same period last year, according to Dagens Naeringsliv.
There has been a major price reduction on beer lately, and it has become relatively cheaper to drink beer, compared with other drinks, such as alco-pop, says Astrid Skretting, researcher at the National Institute for Research on Alcohol and Drugs.
