Portugal: Duty on beer may increase by 3% this year
The government of Portugal intends to raise beer, hard liquor and wine taxes by 3%, in accordance with the proposed budget for 2016, DN reported on February 5.
The current duties on beer vary between EUR7.75 and EUR 27.24 per hectolitre, depending on the alcohol content of the beer. The proposed taxes are between EUR7.98 and EUR28.06 per hl.
Local trade associations have already expressing their concern over the proposed increase, reminding that the increase was well above inflation.
