USA, MO: Kansas City’s newest brewery opens its doors
In the West Bottoms neighborhood, something new is starting to brew, 41 KSHB reported on April 16.
Kansas City’s newest craft brewery, Stockyards Brewing Company, has opened its doors.
“Being around the history of the West Bottoms and specifically the stock yard district has really been a draw for me. It reminds me of home a little bit,” said Greg Bland, the brewery owner.
What used to be the iconic Kansas City Golden Ox has transformed into a modern-day brewery that currently produces three different beers.
Bland first started brewing beers in his college dorm room. His hobby turned into a passion, which eventually turned into a business that’s now crafting life into a neighborhood that’s become dry.
”I'm really hoping that this brewery, Stockyards Brewing, could be a driving force to get people down here. To get the beer nerds down here to come and check it out. And with the first Friday activities, with the antiquing going on down here, this neighborhood is really ready to start growing and start seeing a lot of folks down here,” said Bland.
