UK: AB InBev’s Camden Town Brewery to add second production facility in London
Brewery news

Anheuser-Busch InBev's recent UK acquisition Camden Town Brewery is to expand production to a second north London site.

The UK brewer said earlier this week that it has signed a lease on a new facility in Enfield that, when completed early next year, will bring all of its production in-house. Camden, which AB InBev agreed to buy four months ago, has a production site at its headquarters in the Camden borough of London, and outsources some brewing to Belgium.

The new 57,000-square-foot brewery will employ up to 70 people over the next two years, Camden said.

"The exciting events of last year have given us a great opportunity to transform Camden Town Brewery from an outstanding London brewery to a world famous one," said founder Jasper Cuppaidge. "With the support of AB InBev and this new addition to our family, Enfield will not only keep all our brewing close to home in North London, but also enable us to make more great beers."

AB InBev agreed to pay a reported GBP85 mln (US$124 mln) for Camden Town Brewery in December. At the time, the company said plans included a second brewery to keep up with demand.

Last week, AB InBev said it would take full control of small Italian brewery Birra del Borgo.
