Ukraine: Ukrainian barley exports amount to 75.9 thousand tonnes in March
Barley exports from Ukraine amounted to 75.9 thousand tonnes in March 2016, which was much less than in March 2015 (206.8 thousand tonnes) but more than in the previous month (24 thousand tonnes), UkrAgroConsult reported.
Since the beginning of the season Ukraine exported 4.5% less barley than in the same period of last season (4040.4 thousand tonnes compared to 4232.4 thousand tonnes in July-March 2014/15 MY).
Saudi Arabia, the main barley market of Ukraine, had 55% of the total export volume this season against 63% in 2014/15 MY.
During the current marketing year, Ukraine has consolidated its position in the markets of China, Libya, Algeria, doubling the supply to these countries. Moreover, Ukraine has already exported 200% more barley to the EU countries than last season (about 200 thousand tonnes against 62.5 thousand tonnes).
Despite the consistently high demand for Ukrainian barley by Saudi Arabia, Ukrainian exporters have diversified markets outlet in the current season.
