USA, IL: Macushla Brewing gets final approval to open in Glenview
In a 5-1 vote, the Glenview Village Board gave final approval June 21 to an ordinance allowing Macushla Brewing to open next to Hackney's On Lake, Chicago Tribune reported.
Mike Welch, Macushla Brewing founder, said he will submit building permits within the week. Once the permits are approved, construction will begin with the aim of opening by Jan. 1, 2017, he said.
"I am glad it is all buttoned up, and I am excited to get building permits and construction underway," Welch said.
In May, the Board talked about requiring Macushla Brewing, which will offer 34 seats inside and 74 seats outside, to have a valet park cars in stacks of three to the left of the building because of the high volume of customers at Hackney's. Since then, the parking system was amended to include valet parking when the lower level party room at Hackney's has reservations for holiday events or events of more than 60 people after 3 p.m., said Director of Planning Jeff Brady.
A Macushla Brewing parking study, which was reviewed by a village traffic consultant, found that 40 additional spots are needed at the location, which currently has 201 spaces, Brady said in May. The valet plan creates 44 more parking spaces, he said.
"Through the [parking] study, through the recommendations, through the valet parking and through the ordinance, there was a comfort level that the parking situation can be dealt with and that they would infrequently need the valet service to deal with the peak times," Brady said in June.
