USA, IN: Tin Man Brewing Company to open second brewery in Kokomo
Brewery news

Tin Man Brewing Company, an award-winning microbrewery based in Evansville, announced plans on July 11 to open a brewery and taproom in downtown Kokomo’s historic train depot, the company’s second location, Kokomo Tribune reported.

The taproom is scheduled to open in late 2016, with the in-house brewery expected to be operational by early 2017, according to a city press release. Once fully operational, the brewery’s plan is to employ 15 to 20 people.

“We are thrilled they chose Kokomo for their new microbrewery location,” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight in the release. “Tin Man is one of the top brewers in the Midwest, and their business is well-suited for the revitalized depot district.”

Tin Man Brewing Company, founded in 2012, focuses on brewing their beer by using earth-friendly techniques, as noted in the release. Tin Man’s current roster of available beers includes six year-round brews and six seasonal flavors.

“We’ve been looking for a way to expand our presence in central Indiana,” said Tin Man vice president and owner Andy Davidson. “After visiting Kokomo and witnessing the growth and progression in the downtown area, we thought it would be a perfect fit.

“Our customers are our top priority and this expansion allows us to bring our craft beer culture closer to them. We’re happy to be partnering with Kokomo native, Amanda Lewton. We’re excited to work together to bring this new facet of Tin Man Brewing Company to the area.”

“We hope to produce around 500 barrels of beer in the first year of production,” said Tin Man president and owner Nick Davidson. “We want to use the Kokomo location to do some unique and interesting things, but we definitely plan to have our core styles available as well. We do plan to have an exclusive beer for Kokomo that’s currently in development now. “
