USA, NY: Northern Eagle Beverages buying the Glens Falls Brewing Company
Northern Eagle Beverages will be purchasing the Glens Falls Brewing Company, according to a media release from the Oneonta beverage distributor, Oneonta Daily Star reported on July 22.
The deal is expected to close by the end of the summer, the release said; terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Glens Falls Brewing LLC, located in Queensbury, was started by Richard and John Davidson of Davidson Brothers Brewing Company in 2014. Also in 2014, Northern Eagle purchased the Cooperstown Brewing Company in Milford for an undisclosed cash sum.
During renovations to the Milford facility, Cooperstown Brewing Co. contracted with Glens Falls Brewing to brew its beers. According to the release, both breweries use identical systems to brew their beers.
"We have worked very closely with the Davidsons over the past couple of years on the brewing side of the business," Northern Eagle president George Allen said in the release. "As a distributor, we have carried their beers since 2012, so I think we are very comfortable with each other. ... When the opportunity to purchase Glens Falls Brewing Company came before us, we knew it would be a good fit."
The Queensbury brewery is poised to expand, adding lagering tanks, a canning line and expanding to make craft sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages, the release said.
"John and I are proud to have built the second-largest authentic Peter Austin system brewery in North American," Richard Davidson said in the release. "We are very happy Northern Eagle will grow the brewery we founded and continue handcrafting world-class beers."
Northern Eagle recently completed a $6.8 million, 68,000-square-foot refrigerated facility in the town of Oneonta.
