Canada, NU: Nunavut Brewing Company passes another hurdle on its way to a 2017 opening
CBC News North reports a planned brewery that received approval from the Nunavut Liquor Licensing Board last year has passed another hurdle on its way to a 2017 opening.
Nunavut Brewing Company has received development permit approval from Iqaluit city council, and will soon start construction on a 600-square-metre brewing facility on Iqaluit Lane, near Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park.
Brewery partner Ambrose Livingstone told council that the company plans to contribute to the area through job creation and sponsorships, as well as keeping money spent on beer in the community rather than flowing to out-of-territory breweries.
Once operational, the brewery will sell its beer within the territory via the Nunavut Liquor Commission, and will also explore the possibility of exporting to other markets.
