USA, MO: Good News Brewing Co. aiming at summer opening in O’Fallon
There's certainly good news for craft-beer fans in O'Fallon, Missouri: Good News Brewing Co. plans to open this summer, the Feast Magazine reported on January 18.
As first reported by 70 West Sentinel, Good News is the first commercial brewery from former homebrewers Dan Tripp, Josh Miller and Matt Fair. The trio began brewing together a few years ago on a 5-gallon pot before building their own 1-barrel brewing system. Over the years, they worked closely with nearby Design2Brew in O'Fallon, where they purchased equipment and supplies and also brewed a collaboration beer.
"Eventually, we decided to create a space where we could go bigger, brew a lot of beer together and invite in our friends and family," Tripp tells Feast. "At the core, we wanted to have a place people could hang out and spend time together."
Now, the trio plan to open the doors to Good News Brewing Co. at 330 Sonderen St. in the space formerly home to Patke's Farm Dairy. Tripp says it was important for the brewery to be located in the O'Fallon area; he cites the newly opened Friendship Brewing Co. in Wentzville and Third Wheel Brewing, slated to open in St. Peters this spring, as driving interest in craft beer forward in the area.
Good News plans to have five beers on tap regularly – look for a Belgian white, pale ale, stout, IPA and brown ale (which will likely be known as the Dirty Laundry Brown Ale in tribute to the coin-operated laundromat located next door to the brewpub). The brewery will also offer a few rotating beers developed by Fair, including a Christmas persimmon beer, a dark chocolate-pomegranate stout and an India pale lager.
"Our beers aren't over-the-top," Tripp says. "Even though those are some of our favorite beers, we know a lot of people aren't big hop-heads. Our goal is to get your Bud Light drinkers and expose them to some new craft beer styles so they can work their way up to some of those heavier, hoppier beers and darker stouts."
Look for Good News Brewing Co. to open its doors in mid-June.
