USA, CA: East Brother Beer Company launches new brewery in Richmond
East Brother Beer Company opened the doors to its new brewery and tap room, the first to call Richmond home. Founded by Chris Coomber and Rob Lightner, longtime friends and Bay Area residents, East Brother Beer Company is committed to bringing beer back to its classic roots, Brewbound.com reported.
“We admire the genuine, hard-working people and businesses found in Richmond. We love the quiet, unassuming nature of the city, which we feel is reflected in our beers – five classic styles that evoke the same basic, but familiar vintage feel,” says Co-founder Rob Lightner.
Tucked up against the hills of Miller Knox Regional Park on Canal Boulevard, East Brother’s production facility and taproom are housed in a 12,000-square foot warehouse where the taproom shares open space with a custom-designed, 20-barrel stainless steel brewing system. A useful “fence” of raw materials – malt, barley, hops – separates the two, illustrating the art of beer making and allowing for public view.
The 3,000-square foot taproom features a casual, inviting atmosphere, indoor-outdoor seating, and an oversized, glass roll-up door seamlessly connecting the two. Inside, the poured concrete floors and signature EB | CA logo wall make for a clean contemporary backdrop to a classic wood 14-seat bar and open picnic table-type seating. An open transition to outdoors includes a ping pong table, corn hole and a regulation size bocce court offering skilled drinkers games that are easily played with a cold beer in hand.
Flowing from the taps is East Brother’s initial line-up – Pale Wheat, Red Lager, Bo Pils, Red IPA and Oatmeal Stout. The East Brother taproom is open to the public Wednesday and Thursday 4-8pm, Friday 4-9pm, Saturday 12-9pm and Sunday 12-8pm. Purchase beer in pints, sample a flight or take a growler to-go. Simple snacks that pair well with beer are available at the bar for purchase, and food trucks are on hand each night.
