USA, MI: Thornapple Brewing Co. already open to the public in Grand Rapids
Brewery news

A pair of long-time homebrewers has opened a brewery in Grand Rapids, grbj.com reported on June 12.

Thornapple Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids, at 6262 28th St. SE, opened to the public on June 10.

Co-owners Jeff Coffey and Eric Fouch began serving their beer, hard cider, pizza, appetizers and desserts in the 3,300-square-foot brewery and taproom.

“This brewery reflects each of our personalities and our mutual excitement for brewing,” Fouch said. “We have spent most of our lives making potent potables, and now it's time to share our craft with the community.”

A variety of beers are on tap, including Brown Eyed Girl brown ale, Double Eye double IPA, Hoppy Saison, Spicy Saison and Am Stout.

Initially, Thornapple Brewing Co.'s hours will be from 4-11 p.m., Wednesday-Friday and 11 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays.

Next month, the company plans to expand its hours to Monday-Saturday, and in the future, it expects to be open on Sundays.

Coffey and Fouch have nearly 50 years of combined brewing experience, including international awards under their belts.

The pair met at the Steelcase Test Lab in the 1990s, with Coffey an engineer by trade and Fouch a chemist and biologist.

“We simply want to enjoy our passion with those who will enjoy it with us,” Coffey said.
