USA, IN: Creatures of Habit Brewing grants opening permission by the Anderson Board of Zoning Appeals
A special exception has been granted for the opening of a third brewery in downtown Anderson.
The Anderson Board of Zoning Appeals approved on November 1 a request from Daniel Stachowiak and Dan Shaw to open the brewery and a restaurant at 1031 Meridian St., The Herald Bulletin reported on November 4.
The property had housed Wigs ‘n More and several other businesses in the past few years. The property is zoned for business use.
Creatures of Habit Brewing plans to renovate the entire first and second floors of the two-story structure. Plans provide for 1,550 square feet for open dining and restrooms with a bar and kitchen with the brewery in the rear of the building.
The second floor will be used for additional dining.
The business hopes to open by the end of the year. The company plans on hiring 15 people and will be open from noon to 10 p.m.
Although parking was a concern, there is available on-street parking and the surface parking lot on the southeast corner of 10th and Meridian streets.
The owners already operate the Kettle Top Brew House at the Dickmann Town Center Plaza.
A $35,000 food and beverage tax grant was approved in September.
The Kettle Top Brew House opened last December in the Dickmann Town Center and is connected to Ribs Express.
Creatures of Habit joins Kettle Top and the planned Oakley Brothers Distillery and C.T. Doxey Brewing in downtown Anderson. The Oakley Brothers Distillery is expected to open by the end of November.
