USA, PA: Crystal Ball Brewing Co. to open its downtown York tasting room on February 2
Crystal Ball Brewing Co. will open a downtown York tasting room this week as part of the city's First Friday celebration, the Central Penn Business Journal reported on January 30.
Downtown Inc will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the West York-based brewery's new location at 21 S. Beaver St., at 6 p.m. Friday, February 2.
Crystal Ball, which has been brewing beer since 2014, will occupy the former Weinbrom Jewelers building. It joins several new retailers downtown as part of revitalization efforts led by Royal Square Development and Construction.
Other new shops along South Beaver Street include Isaac's On The Fly, Memory Lane Sweets, Make Me Over Beauty Supply, Lele B's Boutique and Meta.
Crystal Ball will have eight taps available to the public, including seven featuring its own beers. They include its coconut porter, a Jamaican-style wheat beer made with mango and hibiscus and an India pale ale. The brewery is planning to release a milk chocolate stout for Valentine's Day and a habanero pepper beer for Cinco de Mayo.
The eighth tap is reserved for Wyndridge Farm's Crafty Cider. The bar also will serve wine from Spring Gate Vineyard and spirits from Philadelphia Distilling and Tattered Flag.
Hours will be from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursdays, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Food from Isaac's, including all-day breakfast, will be available.
In addition to Crystal Ball, York also is home to Mudhook Brewing Co., Liquid Hero Brewery and Collusion Tap Works. Gift Horse Brewing Co. plans to open a tasting room in the near future.
