Canada: Barley stocks drop 6.1% last year
Canada’s stocks of canola at the end of 2017 hit a record high 14.1 million tonnes, while stocks of wheat and barley were smaller compared to the same date a year earlier, according to a farm survey by Statistics Canada released on February 5.
According to Statistics Canada, the nation’s barley stocks as of December 2017 were 6.068 mln tonnes versus 6.462 mln in December 2016 (-6.1%).
The survey of 9,064 Canadian farms was conducted from Jan 3 to 15, 2018.
