Angola & Mozambique: Grupo Castel Angola starts exporting to Mozambique
Grupo Castel Angola and Mozambique’s Moz Bebidas on June 8 signed a collaboration agreement enabling the Angolan company to start shipping its production to Mozambique. The company plans to send its first two 50-tonne containers of beer to the new market soon, Jornal de Angola reported on June 9.
The company intends to ship a total of nine or ten containers to Mozambique this year, it is reported.
Castel Group’s Cuca brewery in Angola produces around 2.5 mln hl of beer per year, which is not yet its full production capacity.
The brand was founded in 1947 by Companhia União de Cervejas de Angola (Cuca), which then belonged to Central de Cervejas Portuguesa. In 1976, the plant was nationalized. After its privatisation, since the nineties, the beer has been produced at breweries in Luanda, Catumbela, Lobito and Cabinda.
Besides Cuca, Moz Bebidas imports and distributes in Mozambique the Coca-Cola brands, Portugal’s Superbock, Heineken, and other.
