USA, WI: Milwaukee Brewing Company ready to tap its brand new brewery
After much anticipation, the Milwaukee Brewing Company is ready to tap its brand new Downtown brewery, OnMilwaukee.com reported on September 6.
The grand opening for the new location – featuring a taproom, retail space, beer garden, event space and restaurant, all found in the new Downtown arena district at 1128 N. 9th St. – will take place on Saturday, Sept. 15, with events scattered throughout the day including tours, an official opening ceremony, timed tappings and a silent disco.
The festivities will begin at 11 a.m. with free O-Gii Mosas served up before the doors officially open to the new facility at noon. The grand opening ceremony itself will take place at 4:30 p.m., while free walk-up mini-tours of the new space and brewery will run every 15 minutes beginning at 1 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m.
Owner and founder Jim McCabe will even host the tours beginning at noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. – with a special grand opening commemorative T-shirt for the first 90 individuals who score a spot on those special trips. Sign up for the McCabe-led tours will begin at 11 a.m., with spots offered on a first come first served basis.
Then, at 9 p.m., the bar will flip the lights off and turn the music up (kind of) for a special Silent Disco, a dance party in which guests get down to music played exclusively in their headphones, with three channels of tunes to choose from. Tickets – available at MKE Brewing Company's website and at its front desk on the day of the event – are $10 and include the headphones and a pour of beer. The bar will then remain open until midnight.
The party at the new brewery will continue on into Sunday, with a Packers viewing party the next afternoon for the Pack's spat against the Minnesota Vikings. The brewery will open at 11 a.m. for the noon game; chairs are BYOC.
