USA, ND: Bird Dog Brewing expanding to a larger location in Mandan
Brewery news

A small Mandan brewery is expanding. Bird Dog Brewing has been operating out of Main Street Liquor for almost four years. But now, it's time for an upgrade, KFYR-TV reported on December 24.

Dennis Kwandt is putting in the hours to get this space ready to become a brewery. He and his business partners have been working for weeks on painting, plumbing and putting in flooring.

“It's very exciting, it’s very nerve wracking and a little nervous because now it’s all on me to get it done, or on us to get it done I should say,” Kwandt said.

Kwandt opened Bird Dog Brewing four years ago. Since then, they've been operating out of Main Street Liquor. Kwandt is making due with the 400 square feet, but says it's time for expansion. He's hoping it'll give him the opportunity to test out new beers.

“Never had the availability to really have lagers in the past, and hopefully with this space I’ll be able to do that more,” he said.

And find a third-party distributor to allow his product to get into more places. Kwandt says the new space will have a tap room, area for brewing and possibly a place for games and a stage.

“I really just hope that it's a place where the folks can come, relax, maybe watch a game,” he said.

Kwandt is hoping to have the location on South 9th Street open the second week of January.

You can find Bird Dog Brewing's beers at some locations across Bismarck and Mandan.
