USA, PA: Lavery Brewing Company eyeing summer opening for itssecond location in Erie
Lavery Brewing Company will open a second location this summer in the space currently occupied by the Blue Canoe Brewery and Restaurant, the Erie News Now reported on March 6.
Titusville Community Development Agencies is ending its lease with the Blue Canoe at 113 S. Franklin St. and will instead lease the space and brewing equipment to Lavery Brewing.
Lavery Brewing owner Jason Lavery said he and his staff are excited to expand the brewery into Crawford County for the first time.
Once Lavery takes over operations, the location's name will be changed to The Lager House because the Titusville location will primarily specialize in brewing lagers. Many other popular Lavery beers will also be on tap.
Most of the food menu from the Blue Canoe will carry over with a "Lavery-twist."
Lavery said his intention is to keep all dining and beer-related employees on staff once the takeover is complete.
"It was kind of a no-brainer,” said Lavery. “The brewhouse is already there. The kitchen is already there. It's kind of a turnkey environment, so we get to walk in day one and get to make how we want it to be."
Lavery Brewing will take over July 1. The new brewpub is expected to open on July 13.
"We didn't want to have an empty space for a long time, so we're very pleased," said Laurie Baker, executive director of Titusville Community Development Agencies. "We're happy with the Blue Canoe. For Lavery, we're going to have a nice transition, so we're pleased with that. Things seem to be working out very well."
The Blue Canoe is still open. The brewery and restaurant suffered heavy damage when a fire broke out in the Towne Square building in March 2015. It reopened one year later.
Lavery Brewing, which was founded in 2009, operates on W. 12 St. in Erie.
