USA, IN: Goodwood Brewing Co. opening second brew house in Indiana
Goodwood Brewing Co. is opening a second brew house.
The Louisville-based brewer is formally joining the Indiana craft beer scene on May 8 with the grand opening of Goodwood Brew House and Live Room at 134 Spring St. in Jeffersonsville. The event features a performance by Hairbangers Ball, and tickets are $10. Doors open at 8 p.m.
The brewery will share the building with recently opened Cox’s Hot Chicken, which sits about a block north of the riverfront.
The new space features pool tables, a stage and a deck. Live entertainment has always been a big part of the Goodwood experience, but the new setup creates more room for larger groups and dancing, Ted Mitzlaff, chairman and CEO of Goodwood, told the Courier Journal.
The Goodwood team had been scouting locations across the river for a while when the Cox team approached them last year about moving into the old Big Four Burgers location, Mitzlaff said.
The Jeffersonville site will have its own research and development style brewing system, which will create more opportunities for Goodwood Brewers to experiment with specialty India pale ales and stouts.
“It’s an art as much as it is a science, and it really lets them explore and show off their art,” he said.
Having a Jeffersonville location, too, will give the brewery more access to the Indiana craft beer festival scene.
It's been a busy year for Goodwood, and the company is showing no sign of slowing down.
In October the company amped up its NuLu taproom to include a restaurant and a second bar area. Goodwood launched a spirit line this past winter, and they’ve got a Frankfort location in the works.
“We love this region and we want to continue to grow, and we want our patrons to enjoy Goodwood in multiple venues,” Mitzlaff said.
