USA, NH: Smuttynose Brewing Co. to open Smuttlabs Brewery & Kitchen in Dover
Smuttynose Brewing Co.’s planned expansion to Dover has been a hot topic around the city for months. It is now confirmed with the company announcing on July 16 the opening of Smuttlabs Brewery & Kitchen is planned for late summer this year, the Foster’s Day Democrat reported on July 16.
The business will be at 47 Washington St., the former site of 7th Settlement Brewery, which closed last year. Smuttlabs Brewery & Kitchen will be the first physical outpost for the Smuttlabs brand, which is a limited-batch, experimental arm of Hampton-based Smuttynose Brewing, led by longtime head brewer Charlie Ireland. Smuttlabs has been producing a new brews each month for several years.
The new Dover location will highlight Smuttlabs offerings through 16 tap lines in conjunction with a full food menu that will utilize beer in many of the recipes, according to the company. Smuttynose’s core beers – including Finestkind IPA, Old Brown Dog Ale, and New Hampshire Pale Ale – also will be served in Dover on draft.
The production team will be brewing three times per week working toward a projected year-one capacity of roughly 1,000 barrels, according to the company.
“Innovation has been at the core of Smuttynose since the beginning,” said Ireland. “As the brand has grown and demand for our core beers has consumed more and more of our production capacity, we created Smuttlabs as a place to continue to test even our wildest creations.”
Smuttlabs Dover will have a seating capacity of 150 people, with a small space for outdoor seating, too, according to the company. The projected opening date is toward the end of summer.
