USA, PA: Dented Keg Brewing Company to debut in Adamns Township this month
Brewery news

Matt McCullough used to spend a lot of time in his basement filling dented kegs with homemade beer. This month, he’ll debut his new 4,000-square-foot, 40-barrel brewery in Adams Township — the Dented Keg Brewing Company, NEXTpittsburgh reported on August 15.

Located in a former McGinnis Sisters Special Food Store in the Adams Shoppes on Route 228, Dented Keg, is set to open Aug. 30.

McCullough and co-owner Corey Gibbons of Penn Hills will serve a rotating lineup of 10 to 12 beers, plus house cider, regional wines and signature cocktails made with local spirits. McCullough’s brother, Derek, is the brewmaster.

Drafts are available in 12- and 16-ounce pours or flights of six eight-ounce samples, as well as in to-go cans. The flagship beverage, 504 Pale Ale (which serendipitously boasts a 5.04 percent ABV) is named after 504 Daisy Ct., the Cranberry Township residence where Matt McCullough and his original homebrewing partner once lived.

The 85-seat facility features a rustic industrial look (complete with dented kegs!), a private event space and a small menu including appetizers, sandwiches and kid-friendly eats. Flour and Sugar Cakery in neighboring Seven Fields will provide many of the desserts.

“We’re keeping our menu small so we can focus on execution and making sure every time a plate goes out it’s consistent and it’s good,” says Travis McCullough, another sibling who designed the interior and serves as the marketing manager.

The fourth and youngest McCullough brother, Brock, also will lend a hand at the brewery. The family hails from St. Marys, Pa., home of the 147-year-old Straub Brewery.

“It’s awesome working with my brothers. We have fun,” Travis McCullough says. “We all have our certain niche that we’re contributing to this venture.”
