USA, IA: Madhouse Brewing Company closing its doors in Des Moines
After crafting beer in central Iowa for 10 years, Madhouse Brewing Company is closing its doors, DesMoinsesRegister.com reported on August 29.
The brewery at 501 Scott Ave., near downtown Des Moines will close at the end of September following a "last release" party where the company will sell its Neapolitan barrel-aged stout.
"We'd like to thank all of the people who have supported us over the years, many of whom have become good friends," reads a Facebook post about the release party.
The owner, Mason Groben, opened Madhouse Brewing Company after opening Jasper Winery with his parents in 2004. The brewery is known for its barrel-aged beers like its vanilla imperial porter and wide range of sours.
The first 200 people at the brewery's release party on Sept. 20 will receive a free Madhouse pint glass.
