USA, NV: Trustworthy Brewing Co. already open in Grand Canal Shoppes in Las Vegas
Since the shutdown of brewing operations at the Monte Carlo Brew Pub more than a decade ago, the Strip in Las Vegas has been devoid of an operating brewery. But with the recent opening of Trustworthy Brewing Co. in the Grand Canal Shoppes, the dry spell is about to end, the Las Vegas Weekly reported on September 5.
“About to” because while Trustworthy is now open, it has not yet begun brewing on the premises. Still, you can enjoy brews shipped from the company’s main production facility in Burbank, California, while partaking in the culinary offerings by chef Lloyd Bansil, a Strip veteran.
Trustworthy’s mainline beers, including the easy drinking Gigil rice pilsner—apropos for the torrid Vegas summer—and the more robust Brass Jar hoppy amber ale, have been available in the Valley for the past year, including at Morels Steakhouse, just off the Palazzo lobby.
But at the new operation on the second floor, more specialty brews are available, making the journey into the depths of the Palazzo well-worth the effort. There you’ll find Trustworthy’s second anniversary brew, Turning Two, a barrel-aged blended golden sour that doesn’t overpower with tartness. Equally intriguing is the Great American Beer Festival bronze-winning Bear Temper barleywine, surprisingly smooth while weighing in at 12.5 percent ABV.
Best of all: the immaculate bourbon barrel-aged rendition of Bear Temper. The toffee smoothness imparted from 13 months spent in Redemption Rye barrels provides a perfect foil to the alcoholic sweetness inherent to the style.
