USA, AL: Braided River Brewing announces February 1 opening date
Mobile will have another brewery in service by the time the city’s Mardi Gras parade season gets under way: Braided River Brewing has announced a Feb. 1 opening date, al.com reported on January 8.
The brewery is located at 420 St. Louis St., a few blocks east of Old Majestic Brewing, which opened in mid-December. Its founder is David Nelson who previously worked at Lonerider Brewing in Raleigh, N.C., and moved to Mobile when his wife took a job at the University of South Alabama.
Nelson said the opening would be a “block party style event” with live music starting at 2 p.m. on Feb. 1, a Saturday. Those who just can’t wait can get a preview at a planned soft opening stretch, Thursday-Saturday, Jan. 23-25.
On its Facebook page the brewery recently touted its first brew day, for a batch of brown ale. Nelson said he plans to launch with six beers on tap: Hoppy By Nature IPA, Beer Here Now Kolsch, a Brown Ale, a hoppy Red Ale, a Norwegian Farmhouse Session IPA, and a Coffee Stout brewed in collaboration with Mobile coffeehouse Carpe Diem.
