USA, PA: South County Brewing planning a 27,000-square-foot facility in York Township
Brewery news

One of southern York County's most notable craft breweries will be moving up north, the York Daily Record/Sunday News reported.

On Friday, Aug. 21, South County Brewing announced plans for a 27,000-square-foot facility near the Leader Heights exit in York Township, according to a press release.

The new two-story location will feature a full-service restaurant, music venue and outdoor space. South County will be relocating its brewing and distribution operations to the new location, which will feature a 30-barrel system and extended cellar space for barrel-aged products. Construction on the facility is expected to take 18 months and will add 25 new jobs.

“We wanted to make sure that moving forward we have the tools and capacity to continue to be successful. Offering an incredible destination experience will be key for our long-term success," the brewery's ownership said in a joint statement. "Our new home will allow us to create more unique offerings, increase efficiencies, and engage other passions such as bourbon and whiskey. In addition, having more cellar capacity will also allow us keep up with retail sales and help us fill market demand for packaged beer."

The Fawn Grove-based brewery opened in 2011 under founder and brewmaster JR Heaps. The Fawn Grove location will remain open for retail and draft sales after construction on the York Township location is complete, Heaps said.
