USA, CA: Syncopated Brewing Co. to open in Lakewood this month
With the goal of making every kind of beer possible, two beer vets have teamed up to open a new brewery in Lakewood this month, the Long Beach Press Telegram reported on April 25.
“We’re going to have fun with it; we’re going to make some fun easy drinking beers,” said Jason Van Fleet, owner of Dutch’s Brewhouse in Long Beach.
Van Fleet has partnered with former Ballast Point brewer Chris Klein to open Syncopated Brewing Co., a 4,000-square-foot brewery at 3671 Industry Ave. opening by the end of April.
Once it opens, people can expect beer styles including lagers, pilsners, saisons, sours, IPAs and pale ales.
“We’re a small-batch brewery so we’re just going to have fun with it,” Van Fleet said.
Some of the opening day beers will include brews like Sailor’s Legs, a 9.1% alcohol by volume chocolate-flavored imperial stout, and a 6.7% ABV red ale called Red Dragon Tattoo, which has caramel and tobacco flavors.
There will be lighter fare, too, including the Golden Lightfoot, a 5.3% ABV German style golden ale brewed with honey malt and fermented with a German ale yeast, so expect some citrus and sweet flavor.
Van Fleet said people can also expect some entertainment since there will be a musical vibe to the place with live music taking place at the brewery.
“My head brewer is a drummer so we’re just a couple of offbeats coming together to make a rhythm,” he said.
