USA, CA: Lucky Luke Brewery to take over Wolf Creek Brewery’s Ly Canyon Loop site in Valencia
Brewery news

Wolf Creek Brewery announced this week that Lucky Luke Brewery will take over at the brewery’s Ly Canyon Loop site in Valencia, the California News Times reported on June 20.

Founded in 1997, Wolf Creek Brewery opened its doors as one of the first breweries in LA County and has since established one production brewery and one full-service restaurant.

Wolf Creek owners Rob and Rina McFeren started talking to Lucky Luke in early 2020 to discuss retirement plans, and Lucky Luke bought a brewery site a few years later.

Rob McFeren became ill in 2020 and died of cancer in December.

“We’ve had a great life in the craft beer community for over 24 years, and it’s finally time to hand over the torch,” Laina McFerren said in a prepared statement. “Rob knows that Lucky Luke wants to inherit the legacy of delicious craft beer in this space and give it back to the community that has supported us for many years.”

Lucky Luke started in Palmdale in 2015 and expanded to Lancaster’s second location in the spring of 2019 with a full-service restaurant. The acquisition will make Lucky Luke a third place, allowing it to produce 10 times more beer than its current production operations.

According to the statement, owners Samantha and Brian Schmitz have been dependent on McFeren as mentors for many years.

“I am honored to be able to grow into this third place with the help of Liner and Rob,” Schmitz said. “They have been great role models for years and we are excited to help them carry on their legacy.”

Valencia’s Wolf Creek Restaurant is not part of the acquisition and is expected to continue to be owned and operated by the McFeren family. Lucky Luke will continue to brew Wolf Creek beer for the restaurant so that the brand can stay alive.

The license transfer is expected to take approximately two months and Wolf Creek Brewery is expected to continue to operate normally until the license is transferred.
