Canada, ON: Ganaraska Brewing Company hoping to launch on September 24 in Port Hope
Brewery news

The new Ganaraska Brewing Company development in Port Hope is taking shape, the Toronto Star reported on July 17.

And come September, residents will be welcomed inside and onto its rooftop patio overlooking the Ganaraska River.

“The last of our equipment was delivered last week, and so we’re just sort of setting it up now,” said co-owner Dave Dines. “We’re going to be starting brewing probably in the next two weeks, and so we’re really hoping to be open on the 24th of Sept., which is a Friday.”

Owned and operated by brothers Dave and Steve Dines, the artisanal brewery, located at 33 Mill St. S. in Port Hope, will feature a rooftop patio that can accommodate about 50 people, a ground-floor patio area with seating for about 20 and a tap room/tasting room with capacity for about 80-85 people, as well as a to-go beer shop, once it swings open its doors in September.

At their opening launch, the team will unveil five original beers, and folks can expect the best, as the Dines have brought in a top-of-the-line brewmaster, said Dave.

To help run their kitchen, the Dines have partnered up with Cobourg’s Craft Food House.

They do amazing work, and the brewmaster will work closely with them on food-drink pairings, said Dave, adding patrons can expect a lot of charcuterie boards, as well as specialty food dishes.

Nearly four years in the making now — and after persevering through the COVID-19 pandemic — it’s exciting to see this project taking final shape, said Dave, adding it’s thanks to the Northumberland community this is happening.

From Piccini Architect to contractor Dalren Limited, to local vendors and more, many area partners have been involved in helping to bring the brewery to life. The team is looking forward to highlighting all their great work in the near future as a way to say thank you, said Dave. (A Northumberland Proud section is being added to the company website to do just this.)

“This is a local brewery built by locals and for the local community.”

Looking a little further ahead, after the initial opening and once everything is situated, residents can also expect live music on Friday nights, featuring local musicians and bands.

“This is a great lot that overlooks the Ganaraska River, which is sort of our namesake,” Steve told Northumberland News at last year’s groundbreaking event for the project. “We’ve got the Farley Mowat canoe in front of it, and when we have our rooftop patio open, I think you’re going to see a nice view of Port Hope.”
