World: Substantial weather damage on northern hemisphere crops this year
Weather damage on crops in the northern hemisphere has been substantial this summer, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their September report.
Particularly durum, milling wheat and malting barley have been affected by late planting, a cold spring, heat waves in summer, and rains and storms in many regions before and at harvest time.
Hardest hit were Canada, the northern plains of the U.S., the eastern countries of the EU and Central Russia.
In the southern half of the world crops look very good in Argentina and Australia, while Brazil is about to collect a poor safrinha maize crop.
