USA, OH: Arrogant Goat Brewing launches in Bucyrus
Being enthusiastic about new businesses is part of Jessie Furner's job as executive director of the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce, the Telegraph-Forum reported on January 9.
But she seemed a little extra-enthusiastic at Friday, January 7's ribbon-cutting for the city's new nanobrewery, Arrogant Goat Brewing, 125A E. Rensselaer St.
"Finally, finally, finally, after 201 years of existence, we have a nanobrewery in Bucyrus!" she said, kicking off the event. The crowd of roughly two-dozen people crowded into the tap room applauded.
Furner thanked the business' three owners, Mark Burke, David Jones and Zach Osborn, for their hard work in making the nanobrewery a reality.
"I know that we're all really excited, but you guys have worked so hard putting this together," she said to the trio. "This is a dream from what, 2017, 2018? You've really put a lot of time and heart into this, and not only you guys, but your families."
Burke spoke next.
"We're just excited to get open, excited to be a part of this community," he said. They look forward to working with the chamber and the county's economic development team. Plans for a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, or DORA, will help bring people downtown, he added.
After stepping outdoors for the official ribbon-cutting, the crowd came back inside for tours of the tiny facility and — of course — beer.
But first, guests stood facing the bar's big-screen TV, hands on their hearts, for the playing of the national anthem — something Burke said previously would be a tradition at the nanobrewery.
Jones served the first glass, of No Less Days IPA, to Brad Murtiff, president and CEO at First Federal Community Bank.
"It's good," he said.
The owners have said the brewery's hours will vary, particularly as they get up and running.
