Brewery news

The owner of a Rehoboth brewery that burned down in February said it won't be reopening, WJAR reported on August 14.

Crews deemed the building a total loss after flames ripped through it in February.

Wendy and Steve Rocha say they went to Anawan Brewing Company just a day or two before the incident, excited to have a fun place to go close to home.

“We just feel very badly,” Wendy said. “It was excellent when we went there.”

The veteran-owned brewery had only been open for three months before the fire.

The community quickly stepped up to help, with a local brewery holding a fundraiser and a GoFundMe page which raised thousands.

"Trying to build a business is tough and when you finally make there to have it all crushed, come crashing down, it’s too bad,” Steve said.

The gym that was also destroyed in the fire, House of Fitness Rehoboth, says they still have plans to reopen in the new building.
