USA, NC: Trve Brewing Co. submits permit application for a brewery and tavern in Asheville
Trve Brewing Co., a Denver-based brewer, has submitted a permit application for a new Asheville tavern and brewery, according to city permits, the Asheville Citizen-Times reported on May 8.
The proposed site is 97 Thompson St., a bright blue building on the bank of the Swannanoa River, a former auto shop and garage.
Permit details, submitted in May, propose alteration of the building for "use as a tavern and production of beer," and site plans show a tap room, seating areas and brewery manufacturing floor. Plus, 23 parking spaces in the lot beside the building.
A representative with Trve Brewing declined to comment May 5.
In 2022, Trve Brewing, located on South Broadway in Denver, celebrated 10 years, according to reporting from The Denver Post. Since its opening, it's been "a gathering place for metalheads," and specializes in sours, while also boasting Belgian and farmhouse styles, as well as "clean lagers."
A 2017 news release from Trve said the brewery self-distributes beers, and has worked with out-of-state breweries, including Asheville's Burial Beer Co.
The 0.41-acre property, assessed at $377,200, according to county property records, is owned by Ashebrook Properties LLC.
Also in the East Asheville area of the proposed new brewery is New Origin Brewing Co. and brewery Cursus Keme.
A Level I project, the application does not require any commission or City Council approval. Once submitted, staff will review the plans for compliance and approve or deny.
