USA, WA: Ice Harbor Brewery very close to opening new brewery in Kennewick
More than three months ago, Ice Harbor Brewery shut down its operation on Benton Street in Kennewick, Washington. The company is now very close to opening a new brewery and pub down the street on Bruneau Avenue. Apparently, they are 95 percent there, but getting across the finish line is presenting challenges, the Washington Beer Blog reported on June 14.
“We know there have been rumors circulating that Ice Harbor BruPub is already open,” Ice Harbor Brewery said on social media. “We are sorry to say that is NOT the case, but it’s true we had hoped to host our soft open [last] weekend and hit the ground running on Monday. Unfortunately, we are still encountering multiple delays and snags beyond our control, so our open date is still not set.”
Though it was hard to say goodbye to the cozy old place on Benton Street, the new location will offer more elbow room, sprawling across 14,000 square feet, which means more room for customers and also more room for the kitchen and for the brewery. Ice Harbor says that it cost $1 million to renovate the space but it would have cost five times that much to build a new place from the ground up.
