USA, MI: Motor City Brewing Works closes its Avenue of Fashion location in Detroit
Brewery news

Citing staffing challenges, Detroit craft beer pioneer Motor City Brewing Works has closed its second, newer location on the Avenue of Fashion, The Detroit News reported on September 27.

“Staffing challenges and increased workloads for existing employees have prevented us from fully delivering the MCBW experience we were hoping to contribute to the Avenue of Fashion,” reads a statement posted to Facebook this week, which also hinted at future plans for the building.

“Please stay tuned for further information on the historical next chapter of 19350 Livernois Avenue.”

MCBW’s Livernois spot opened in the summer of 2021 in a charming, rustic and historic building. The debut of the restaurant and taproom was a long time coming, having first released details of the building’s restoration in 2016.

It’s business as usual at the Motor City Brewing Works’ original location at 470 Canfield in Detroit. Owner John Lindardos opened that microbrewery in 1994 and it has been part of the city’s craft beer story ever since.

Known for labels like Ghettoblaster, Nut Brown Ale and Honey Porter, MCBW’s Canfield location currently has an Oktoberfest beer on tap and regularly hosts art shows and other community events.
