USA, CO: Loveland's Verboten Brewing to take over Black Bottle Brewery’s Midtown Fort Collins building
Brewery news

Black Bottle Brewery will shutter later this year, making way for Loveland's Verboten Brewing to take over its Midtown Fort Collins building, Black Bottle announced on Facebook on October 27.

The sale is set to close at the end of November, the post continued. It will mark the end of Black Bottle Brewery's 11 years in Fort Collins, which were more recently marked by financial hardship — including a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in 2020, according to BizWest.

Black Bottle Brewery owner Sean Nook declined to comment on the sale on October 31.

Verboten Brewing, which opened in Loveland in 2013, had been considering adding a second location for a while, co-owner Angie Grenz told the Coloradoan Monday. Earlier this year, they were approached about Black Bottle Brewing potentially vacating its building, "and the timing was right for us," Grenz said.

While it's too early to discuss details of the forthcoming second location, Grenz said an early 2024 opening in Fort Collins would be the best-case scenario for the brewery.

The second location will mirror Verboten Brewing's existing location in downtown Loveland that the brewery moved to in 2016.

The addition of a new location will not change Verboten's Loveland operations, according to Grenz.

"Nothing will change in Loveland," she said. "Loveland is an amazing community, and we love being here."
