USA, TX: Friends and Allies Brewing announces final call on December 9
Friends and Allies Brewing announced a final call in an Instagram post this week after more than seven years as a player in the Austin craft brewing scene. In the Instagram post, the brewery — located at 979 Springdale Road, Suite 124 — said its final day will be on Saturday, December 9, the Austin American-Statesman reported on December 6.
“We are honored to have been part of the community for almost 8 years. Although it's a sad occasion, we would love to see everyone who has supported us for so long,” the post read, “Taproom and party starts at 12 p.m. and we'll go until the beer runs out. Thank you to everyone!”
Friends and Allies Brewing did not clarify why they were closing and have not responded to interview inquiries from the American-Statesman.
The closure of Friends and Allies Brewing is the latest in a spate of taproom closings that have accumulated in both the last few years and in recent months. Notable breweries that have closed recently include Oskar Blues, Adelbert’s Brewing and Circle Brewery.
Additionally, pandemic-related struggles hit the brewing industry and have been cited by many former breweries as contributing reasons for closing.
The emergence of hard seltzers and canned cocktails also has caused disruption to the market. Some brewers began producing their own seltzers or canned cocktails in attempts to regain lost market share.
