USA, MN: Three Twenty Brewing Company being sold to Twin Cities brewer
Three Twenty Brewing Company in Pine City is being sold to an experienced Twin Cities brewer, Bring Me The News reported on February 2.
Owners Nick and Cassandra Olson made an announcement Friday, saying after almost seven years it was time "to pass the torch."
The incoming owner, Lee Ankrum, has a decade of experience in the brewing industry, brewing at Dangerous Man Brewing Company and LynLake Brewery in Minneapolis.
The business is expected to switch hands mid-March, according to the Olsons. The change isn't expected to affect staff or the taproom itself, other than a short closure in the future to complete the licensing process.
"The decision to sell the brewery was not made lightly or quickly, and finding the right buyer for the business and the community was an important goal for us. This has been an incredible journey for our family. We are grateful for the people who make it so special. We are excited to share what we have built with a new business owner, allowing him to realize his dream and embrace the Pine City community," the Olsons said in a statement.
"We believe that this transition will not only preserve the legacy of Three Twenty Brewing Co., but also provide a unique chance for a new owner and brewer to bring fresh beers, ideas and inspiration to the business," they added.
Ankrum earned bronze medals at the World Beer Cup and Honey Beer competition, representing Dangerous Man. The Minneapolis brewery closed in 2023.
“I love creating, I will never stop. It doesn’t really matter what it is. I want to make it. But, it turns out I’m the best at beer making," he said.
The brewery is located in the downtown area of Pine City, near the Snake River at 135 5th St. SE.
