USA, CO: Kodiac Brewery Bar & Grill closes its taps for good
After a year-and-a-half, a Centennial brewery has closed its taps, The Denver Post reported on May 21.
Kodiac Brewery Bar & Grill at 7685 E. Arapahoe Road had its last day of business this past Saturday, May 18. The brewery announced the closure on its social media pages last week, but did not provide a reason behind it.
Kodiac, owned by Raj Chiluka and Nanda Maranani, opened in the 5,200-square-foot space in January 2023. The owners did not respond to requests for comment. Maranani is also the owner of the franchise Indian restaurant Hyderabad House, which is located next door to Kodiac.
Ten-year brewery veteran Stephen Monahan was hired as Kodiac’s head brewer, but left Kodiac in June to open his own concept, Monolith Brewery in Platt Park. Jeff Joslin, the former director of brewing at Left Hand Brewery, took over after Monahan left, according to Westword.
Kodiac’s beer offerings include a cranberry stout, a brown beer ale and a cranberry IPA, according to its website. It also has non-beer offerings, like a pomegranate and acai hard seltzer and a pear cider.
The space is being marketed for sublease by Jeff Germain with Stratus Brookers. According to the listing, all fixtures and furniture are also for sale. Kodiac has seven taps and seven barrels in addition to a full kitchen and custom brick oven, Westword previously reported.
The brewery is part of The Heritage Place Shopping Center, which is anchored by Safeway and has six other spaces available for lease, according to marketing materials.
Before Kodiac, the space had been home to two barbeque joints: Bennett’s Bar-B-Que, and then Estes Park-born Smokin Dave’s BBQ. Smokin Dave’s closed in 2022 after about three years in business.
