USA, OH: Cornerstone Brewing Co. passes under Avon Brewing Co.’s ownership
Brewery news

Cornerstone Brewing Co. in Madison Village has been acquired by the owner of several other breweries in northern Ohio, News-Herald reported on May 24.

Avon Brewing Co. recently purchased the Cornerstone business at 70-74 West Main St. and will rebrand it as Madison Brewing Co.

“We’re excited about bringing our brand to Madison and being in a historic downtown area,” said Mathias Hauck, a co-owner of the new Madison Brewing Co. and Avon Brewing Co.

Hauck owns these brewing enterprises, and Medina Brewing Co., along with Brian Weaver, his brother-in-law; and Ken Weaver, his father-in-law.

Cornerstone Brewing Co. in Madison Village opened nearly 15 years ago. Owner Roy Blalock launched the Madison brewpub five years after starting the first Cornerstone Brewing Co. in Berea.

Blalock said he had “a wonderful time” owning and operating the Madison pub.

“Being from Madison, it was enjoyable to bring something nice to the community, and I’m leaving it in good hands with the folks from Madison Brewing Co.,” said Blalock, who now lives in North Perry Village.

During its stretch in Madison, Cornerstone became known as a brewpub that served a variety of its own hand-crafted beers, and featured a menu with items ranging from appetizers and salads to sandwiches and full meals.
