USA, TX: Weathered Souls Brewing Co. shuttering their doors after eight years of operation
After eight years of operation, Weathered Souls Brewing Co. is shuttering their doors for good, MySA reported on September 13.
The Northside brewery, an Embassy Oaks staple since 2016, confirmed the news on their social media channels with the following official announcement.
"It's hard to believe we're saying this, but after 8 unforgettable years, Weathered Souls will be closing its doors on Sept. 22nd," the post began. They added, "But don't worry, this isn't a goodbye filled with sadness. Instead, it's a celebration of everything we've accomplished together."
The closure notice follows three months after Weathered Souls co-founder, head brewer and James Beard Award nominee Marcus Baskerville stepped down from his role at the brewery.
Weathered Souls was recognized by the James Beard Award Foundation in 2023 as a semifinalist in the outstanding bar category. Southern Living named the brewery one of the South's best in 2022.
Continuing with their closure post, the current owners of Weathered Souls added, "We wanted to take a moment to thank YOU — our incredible customers, local vendors and dedicated team members who have given their all throughout the years. Without your support, none of this would have been possible."
To commemorate their last days of service, Weathered Souls plans to host a community bottle share on Saturday, September 21. The community bottle share will kick off at 11 a.m., extending through the last day on Sunday, September 22. They plan to shut the doors permanently at 5 p.m. to celebrate one last time with their dedicated staff.
"We invite you to come in anytime over the next 10 days," the post continued, adding further down the line, "And who knows what the future holds? Maybe we'll see you again. Until then, keep supporting your local businesses and of course keep drinking local beer."
