USA, WA: Airways Brewing Company to close all operations after 14 years in business
After 14 years serving the Kent community, Airways Brewing Company has announced it will close all operations, citing the loss of its retail locations and the resulting impact on brewery sales, ILoveKent.net reported on November 8.
The closure marks the end of a local institution known for hosting community events, brewing great beer and fostering connections among patrons.
“It was a really hard decision—the customers and Kent community have been so good to us and it’s been an honor to host all kinds of events and watch people become friends and even get married,” Airways Owner/General Manager Dione Dittmar told ILoveKent on Friday, Nov. 8. “I’m grateful we were able to be a part of that for so many years.”
This new information comes after the company announced it was closing Airways Tap Room & Brewery in Kent (map below) on Nov. 27, 2024. Its Bistro and Beer Garden in downtown Kent also recently closed, with its last day being Oct. 26, 2024.
The Tap Room’s last day of operation will be the day before Thanksgiving (Nov. 27, 2024), and management has hinted at several special event nights leading up to the final farewell.
“Everything in life has a beginning and an end,” the owners said in a social media port. “We’ve truly appreciated you and the support you’ve given us throughout the years.”
The brewery’s decision comes as rising expenses and changing tastes create challenges for local tap rooms and breweries, trends many in the industry say have impacted small, community-focused establishments like The Tap Room & Brewery.
“The future for many breweries and tap rooms is cloudy right now,” the owners added, encouraging patrons to continue supporting other local favorites.
As the final weeks approach, the brewery is inviting loyal customers to join them in celebrating their long-standing role in the community.
